This got my mojo working better than Muddy Waters's. The nose starts with wood-smoke, changes into cherries, youngberries and nougat and then finally, with more time in the glass, into poetry. It carries over to a palate that shows typical (for Pinot) bright acid and mesmerising balance. But here we also enter into that holy grail of Pinot: an awesome, silky, creamy texture that makes you want to keep it in your mouth. It's not cheap, but tasting it should emphatically shatter all defences.

The Radford Dale Pinot Noir has a gorgeous nose that reminds me of my mother's home made stewed peaches followed by rich toffee notes. On the palate the wine displayed lovely structure, balancing some generous wood with some under-ripe red cherry fruit. |

I could imagine that, if I were a guy, drinking this Pinot would be like licking sour cream and eating fresh, barely-ripe cherries off the body of a young, supple gymnast. However, I'm not a guy, so I'm afraid she's just not quite my type but I will admit that I can see the appeal – and listening to Pieter practically climax is pure entertainment.

Clear and bright, almost transparent, this example of my favourite red wine cultivar has a youthful nose of medium intensity with sweet aromas of cherry and vanilla. It's probably unfair to describe a wine in terms of what it isn't, but it lacks those 'forest floor' qualities found in good Burgundies. This wine has medium body, with low to medium acidity and lovely soft tannins. With flavours of soft fruit and spice and - refreshingly - medium alcohol, this may not be Burgundy, but it is very, very good. |

In many of my previous reviews I've brought up the fact that I hate that red wine causes purple teeth. It's a pet hate, and I suppose I've developed quite a complex about it! What I therefore loved most about this marvellous Pinot Noir was that it was pale enough and light enough to not coat my teeth in purple ink! It still had lovely complexities on the nose with hints of cherry, rasberry and toffee on the palatte. A wine I would love to savour again. |

Brilliant and clean plum colour at pouring. Delicate yet very noticeable caramel and fruit flavours. So well balanced it could walk a tightrope, but not pretentious enough to attempt a back flip on the way over. Something even non-Pinot connoisseurs will enjoy. More please! |
